Zelenodolsk Shipyard hosted meeting on expanding gas fuel use in Tatarstan

On February 27, the Zelenodolsk Shipyard hosted an expanded meeting of the interagency working group on expanding the use of gas motor fuels in Tatarstan (compressed and liquefied natural gas) with the participation of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.

The participants to the meeting discussed the development of the gas engine fuel market in the Russian Federation, the current state and development plans of the gas engine fuel market in Tatarstan, as well as the prospects for the development of liquefied natural gas in river and road transport.

Tatarstan is a pilot region for introducing the technologies and developing the markets of compressed natural and liquefied gas.

In 2019, an Agreement was signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on construction of a natural gas liquefaction complex and the network of cryogenic filling stations in Tatarstan. In October 2019, a roadmap was signed in Innopolis for the creation of the country’s first river ship running on liquefied natural gas, and today the Zelenodolsk Shipyard held a keel-laying ceremony of this vessel, the Chaika river recreational ship of project 03622 with LNG-powered engines.
